Blacksmithing Classes
2-day bladesmithing class

This class will cover the forging and heat treating to create cutlery for all your camp cooking needs (or whatever you would use cutlery for). The Basic Blacksmithing Class in not a prerequisite however, it would allow you to understand the basics and skills needed to forge heavier stock to create your own piece of custom cutlery. The first day we will go over forging techniques, create the knife shape, grind and make mosaic pins. The second day will consist of grinding, heat treating, polishing and finishing the handles of the knife. This is an advanced class and we HIGHLY recommend you take the basics class first. Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult with a paid class spot. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.

Viking-STyle Knife Forging Class
$185/person
In this class participants will forge a small Viking style rat tail knife blade from 5160 spring steel. They will also be guided through the hardening and tempering processes to make the blade functional under use. Class cost includes a sheath for your blade.

This class is designed for beginners to blacksmithing. Participants will learn the use of gas forges. We will cover metal identification, hammer control, forging technique, heat treating and tools. You will get a chance to make 3-4 projects you can take home. Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult with a paid class spot. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.

We will cover metal identification, hammer control, forging technique, heat treating and tools. You will get a chance to make 1-2 projects you can take home in a 3-hour class. Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult with a paid class spot. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.

WEEKNIGHT FORGE A SURVIVAL FIRE STEEL CLASS
$85/person
Fire steels were what everyone used to start a fire before the invention of matches. In this weeknight class, we will forge a fire steel from high carbon steel. you will also learn how to create a fire with this fire steel. Included in this 3-hour class, you will receive a kit in a metal tin that includes the flint and other materials to make your own fires, along with full instruction sheet. This class is great for those with little to no blacksmithing experience. Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult with a paid class spot. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.

FORGING A CAMP HATCHET
$185/person
Students will have an opportunity to learn about smithing a punched eye, poled camp hatchet. Please do not show up the day of the class without having reserved your spot ahead of time. These classes usually fill up. This is an advanced class and we HIGHLY recommend you take the basics class first. Tongs and Tools Advanced blacksmithing class
$185/person
This class will cover the making of chisels, punches and blacksmithing tongs to use in your own forge. We will make tongs from 3/4" by 1/4" stock as well as rivet making and punching for the rivet in your tongs. Participants will go home with one set of tongs, punch and chisel of their own creation. Heat treating will also be covered. The basic class is not required but will be helpful in your understanding of the basic forging processes. We will be using heavier stock in this class so an understanding of your hammer skills will help a lot. Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult with a paid class spot. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.
